Clarence started this a few months back and now that we are knee deep in the Summer Blockbuster Season. I think Its time to look at what has happened so far.
As suspected Wolverine has the highest opening weekend numbers, but hasn’t proven to be a huge overwhelming hit. It was quickly pasted by Star Trek in pretty much every category (Total Gross, Critical Reaction, and Fan Reaction).
If it weren’t for family friendly movies such are Night at the Museum and Up, I would go ahead and call This the summer of Star Trek. It has been the biggest surprise and the most pleased I have been at the theater this year.
Another huge surprise is the massive gross that The Hangover is getting.
With its $35M budget, bet I can tell you who will be staring in like 9 comedies next year (Ed Helms anyone?). I’m disappointed in the Terminator’s share of the summer. I think that it was a much better movie than only 113M. UP, is making a lot of dough as well, but it has along way to go to catch up to previous Pixar numbers.
The rest of the summer brings Transformers, and Harry Potter. The overall numbers from this year are understandably lower than previous years, but who wants to wages predictions on the highest grossing movie of the summer…anyone?
