He’s at it again, Dukem Nukem’s latest, most infamous, and most appropriately names outing, Duke Nukem Forever has been delayed yet again. Gearbox the recent purchasers of the Duke Nukem property have a pretty good track record of quality and dependability, but even they, couldn’t finish “the unshippable game” on time.
Its been in development for 12 years, what’s another month? Previously, Forever was to ship on May 3 a date Gearbox has stuck with since January. The sounded like a pretty concrete date considering the game was supposed to be out last century. Even Gearbox sees the humor in the delay and have released what turns out to be a sarcastic apology video (See Below). Now, Forever will hit stores in America on June 14 or to those of you that care, the week after E3 2011.
No specific reason was given for the delay, but it was hinted at that they needed more time to put the finishing touches on what promises to be one of the most celebrated releases of the year, regardless of quality. Personally, I find this hilarious. It’s almost like Gearbox is following the Duke Nukem Forever tradition, almost a ceremonious delay, as a reminder of the games roots. The only thing that would have made this better is if the delay was announced on April 1st.
Maybe, just maybe we’ll be playing Duke Nukem Forever on 6/14/2011
