Garfield is the New Spider-man

No not the cat or the President. Actor Andrew Garfield has been selected to play Peter Parker/Spider-man in the upcoming web-slinger’s re-boot. Garfield landed the coveted part after nearly every young actor in the industry was rumored to be up for the role.

So, where would we know Mr. Garfield from? Well, as of right now his biggest role was in The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, but he can be seen later this year in David Fincher’s The Social Network. Other than that, he’s been in a handful of small roles here and there. Seen below in what I have to assume is a photo from some movie where he plays a meth addict, its obvious that he’s not even close to age appropriate for a high school Peter Parker, but hey, neither was Tobey McGuire.

Here’s his stats in a nutshell, he’s 26, was born in LA, yet is British, Jewish and apparently he is a real bonafide actor. We will see if he off the role in the Summer of 2012. Until then, we’ll just have to be content watching the McGuire movies.
