The VGA’s (Video Game Awards) were tonight on Spike and while I don’t understand why I still don’t care about them, it did contain some pretty big announcements.
Some of which were pretty huge; like Batman Arkham Asylum 2, Star Wars: the Force Unleashed 2, Spec Ops: The Line and a new True Crime game. They also had the first tailors of previously announced titles such as Halo: Reach, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Crackdown 2, Tron Evolution, and Medal of Honor, but anyone with half a brain knows what I’m excited about. Harmonix has finally piped up and announced what their next project is: Green Day: Rock Band.
Some of you might recall that I predicted this months ago before the first Green Day DLC was announced, then after more DLC was announced and we still didn’t have any of their ginormous hits, in my mind, is was confirmed. A one minute video during the ceremony announced the title. Now, we just have to wait.
So, what does this mean for a proper Rock Band 3? I don’t know. This year saw two Rock Band titles, so maybe next year will see two as well. In addition, my original question still stands, will GD:RB be Rated M. Much of Green Day’s catalog has many wordy dirds in it. This title could be a wonderful start for the Mature rated music games.
I don’t know if HMX could have chosen a better band from this generation to spotlight.
Update: Harmonix has confirmed that all songs from Green Day: Rock Band will be exportable into your greater Rock Band library.
For those of you that missed it, here’s the announcement video.
