Turtles Games Dated: New Characters Revealed
I would be remiss in my duties as a huge Turtles fan if I didn’t update the tech crew on the release dates of the two (that’s right two) new TMNT games coming out.
First up is Turtles in Time: Re-Shelled (Pictured Above). I will be released on August 5th exclusively on Xbox Live Arcade, as part of the 2009 Summer of Arcade. Its a retooled version of the classic arcade brawler Turtles in Time. It carries an art style remeinisent of the 2007 movie.
I’m a little hesitant about this one, but I’ll will still be picking it up for 1200 Microsoft points ($15).
Also, coming the following month is TMNT: Smash Up. (Pictured Above…duh)) This one is a Wii exclusive that will play very much like Super Smash Bros.
See my E3 coverage of the game here. It also is styled after the 2007 movie and will be the first TMNT fighting game since TMNT Tournament Fighters in 1993. I will enjoy this game and its good to hear that 4 player online play is available.
However, I hear the a Rabbid or two are playable characters in it and that, as a fan, simply pissed me off. With a Turtles back story that has literally dozens of characters, including a Rabbid in this title is simply Ubisoft being colossal asses.
As you can see by the promo shots, the developers what to give this game an image of ferocity. Hopefully they can pull it off in the final product. You can check it out on the Wii September 15th.
UPDATED: Three More characters were just announced as playable. Two fan favorites and a welcomed surprise. The Fugitoid, Karai and Nightwatcher are ready to Brawl in SMash Up. Check out the sweet game play video below. My excitement has just been ratcheted up.
