Day 3 of E3 was a slow day. Not slow in that there was nothing to do, but slow because we were all crazy sore. The show started at 10 AM but we didn’t get there until about 10:30. Carl started the day by visiting the Nintendo booth to get his Legend of Zelda feather stylus. This took him a while, so I had plenty of time to knock out some of the last games on my want to play list.
I was able to play several games today. They included: Dark Void, Red Steel 2, Rabbids Go Home, Lips: Number 1 Hits, a bunch more Lego Rock Band and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. I got really mixed signals from Dark Void and Red Steel 2, but Rabbids, Lips and Sonic were decent. I spent the majority of the day watching other people play games and viewing press events at the different booths.
The Microsoft booth had a pretty long video preview of Halo: ODST, the EA booth had a pretty fierce Need for Speed: Shift tournament going on and Activision had an onstage demo of some of the new features in Guitar Hero 5. I shopped for actual souvenirs and watched some of the shenanigans at the Fatal1ty booth. I got a T-shirt, but Kary had enough basketball skills get himself some high quality analog noise canceling headphones.
At the Lips demo they were having a tournament to win a free Zune. The winner would be the person who scored the highest on the song “More Than Words” by Extreme. I was first to go and scored nearly 5 million points. While I thought that was a great score, Lips the game, did not. I ended the competition in 5th place. Knotts got a picture on the G4 set and I got a picture with Giant Bomb’s Jeff Gerstman.
E3 has been fun, and really one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of, but I am now really ready to be home. We fly out of LAX tomorrow morning and our E3 experience will be officially over.
But the fun doesn’t end there…we have video footage that we could not upload from the hotel because of the questionable catastrophically atrocious internet connect we have here at our Clarion Hotel. So look for that footage in the coming days. Also, I have few more impressions I need to type up and our Best of E3 awards are coming probably this Tuesday. Thanks to everyone that’s been reading and stay turned for more coverage and more of the continuous Techpedition.
